Farewell 2011....

....It's been one hell of a year.

I've learned so much, each day getting better at what I do. My resume has doubled since the start of the year and it looks like 2012 will be even better.

I've worked on numerous projects, including the challenge of shooting live events. Something I feel I needed without even knowing. It improved my skills as a cinematographer and my camera work in general.

For my first project of the new year I'll be editing a feature film for a good friend of mine. More details as the date gets closer.

After that I'm really not sure. I hope to begin work on my next short film, but I can't say if it's a sure thing. Writing is of high priority for me right now. So if something "better" comes along I'll do that first.

I've also made the leap to DSLR filmmaking. I've been getting familiar with the camera (A Canon 60D) and so far I love it. It's also given me an opportunity to pursue my first passion, photography.

Sunset @ Point Dume.

At this point I won't go through a list of goals I have for the new year. I have so many things I want to do, so many ideas that I'd like to put to screen. I'll just take it day by day and see how things turn out.

I do have specific things coming up that I have planned, but I'll keep those as a surprise. Until next time folks. Have a safe and Happy New Year. Oh and remember Twilight Zone New Years marathon on Sci-Fi Channel. Plenty of inspiration for all the budding filmmakers out there!

Always remember, watch, learn, study and just keep making movies!

Here's to a great and prosperous 2012!

Top 5 Films of 2011

Just a quick review of my favorites of the year. Happy New Year everyone!

The last movie I saw this year and my favorite for the year. Film Aficionados will love it even more. Scorsese utilizes 3D to great effect. A must see!

I left the theater in awe. I had just witnessed a work of art come to life on the screen. Just a heads up, this isn't a typical narrative piece of work. It's far beyond that.

Great direction from Clint. Leo nailed the role. An all around well made film.

This one threw me back into adolescence. A mash up of The Goonies, Close Encounters and E.T. A fun and entertaining movie for everyone. Especially those young at heart.

Upon each viewing it gets better. A heartfelt, touching story that happens way to often. I really wish this one had been advertised more. It definitely didn't get the attention it deserved.

See you next year......
